We are pleased to confirm that you have been short-listed for the next step of our selection process. As always, we have had a large number of applicants for the few places that we have available each year. This means that you have done extremely well to reach this point in the selection process!
There are three people on the selection committee: Neil McLean and Dr Sue Byrne are from the School of Psychology at UWA and Dr Anthea Fursland is a clinical psychologist at the Eating Disorders Clinic at CCI. Because we have so many applicants, the interviews will be relatively brief. You will first watch a short video segment from a therapy session. This takes about 10 minutes and you will watch the video in a room set up for this purpose. Hence you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your actual interview. After watching the video, you will meet the members of the selection committee in a different room. We will ask you a couple of questions about your reactions to what you have seen in the video. We will be asking you to describe how the client presented and what the therapist was aiming to do in this segment of their interview. We will not be asking you to provide specific details of what happens on the video but rather to give us your general observations of what you see to be the central issues highlighted in the client’s presentation.
etc etc.....

it was a super massive relief that i got an interview, because id found out 2 weeks prior that interviews were scheduled to take place this thurs and friday.
by monday i still hadnt gotten any calls/emails/letters, and was majorly panicking.
thanks to a certain someone who convinced it would be in my best interests to call and find out,
i did. and found out that i did get an interview.
unfortunately for me, that interview did not go well at all today. at least not from my point of view.
true, i always see, feel and expect the worst, but this time i suspect that i may very well be right with this one.
the questions about the interview went horribly, with me being crazy nervous (what irony, the video was about a client who had heart palpitations due to nervousness), not being able to think clearly, and therefore repeating almost everything i previously said in the more recent sentence that spilled out of my mouth.
then i got asked a question about something that at the time id forgotten, and so had to make something up. and then after the interview i remembered exactly what the hell he was asking me. and realized whatever i said was probably all out of context and off on a tangent.
hopefully they felt that i answered all their other questions about my research experience, why i want to be a clinical psych etc well enough to cancel out what id crapped about the video.
------------------------------------
been feeling like shit the entire day.
i wrote a few posts back about me having to make decisions, and not thinking that i would have to and most certainly not wanting to make them this soon.
if i get into masters, the choice would be clear. id stay here, get an education that is necessary for the rest of my career in psyc. have a car, a house, a part time job.
but if i dont. then what?
i have a job interview for a probations officer post in singapore with MCYS on the 5th.
if i find out that i dont get into masters, and i get that job, do i really go back to singapore for good?
i have always wanted to go home. always. and now that i finally have that option, im not so sure i want to.
not because i dont WANT to, but because of all the problems that i can see with moving back now. where would i live? how would i get around? will the people i know and love have moved on without me, and would they be able to fit me back into their lives the way it was in the past?
i miss everyone, and there is not questioning how much i want to be where all of you are.
but i cannot help but wonder what it would be like.
and now, theres this too.
i said all you have to do is "say the words". and you did. even though you never knew i wanted you to. and so, this could all end, before it even begins.
i guess we will just have to wait till next week to find out.
if it is a no, i will be, the most upset anyone has ever seen or will ever see me, for a long long time.
what do i do then? i dont know.
i never thought so soon would the time come, that i would have to choose between the incredibly important, and the extremely important.
i'd almost forgotten what it was like to be taken out on a date. a first date, more specifically (ok im not sure if you can count it a date, but you know).
im a girl. and as much as you all think i am a boy *scowls* i really am a girl, and thus like to be princess-fied every once so often.
i doubt i would enjoy the high-society lifestyle if i actually ever had the chance to live it, but i will admit having a fully-paid for 130$ dinner was pretty damn nice.
we went to the oyster bar on the foreshore.
wine, bottled water, crab meat (HUGE CHUNKS) spaghetti, squid ink linguine with squid and scallops ...
with an amazing view of the evening perth skyline right outside the window.
then we went to karaoke, played some ball at timezone, and i got dropped home.
it was good fun.
but im pretty sure its not goin anywhere. maybe clubbing buddies :p
you know how i am.
whoever said "its the thrill of the chase",
was right.
but thats just it. a thrill.
and like all thrills, they dont last, and they dont go anywhere.
i'm sure we've all been on a rollercoaster ride sometime or another.
didnt last very long now, did it?
and i can bet my life, you arrived back where you'd started.
=)
but no one said it couldnt be fun while you were riding!
"wow i dont usually say this but you are pretty special. im actually looking forward to seeing you again"
when someone sends you a message like that, after saying also that you were the prettiest girl in the club (prolly coz he is ang moh and to ang mohs i am apparently skinny and relatively ok lookin for some reason),
i know ive said this a million times before throughout this blog, but again, what have i done to deserve friends like this?

its been a crazy weekend, and i am tired outta my mind.
because ive been so busy tryin to make the most of my what you can consider "last" weekend here before i go back to singapore for 2 months ("last" coz although i have next weekend still since i extended my stay by 5 days, i have to work sat and sunday night), ive have barely had time to stop.
its good though. minus the fact i am fallin asleep here.
but i want to blog this coz its been such an amazing day!
the weather was random, rain shine hot cold. i guess thats usual perth weather for you.
we went to freo to have pasta today. james, malcolm (james' boyboy), josh and i.
in josh's car on the way to freo. uni!!! it was nice weather at the time.
my driver for the day :p
the supposedly super amazing pasta that nigel and i discovered last year.
not so good anymore.
its depressing.
after lunch we took a walk to the freo markets,
coz josh has never been there before.
he moved here from adelaide about a month and a half ago.
super crazy amazingly good kid busking with his sax.
he is AMAZING.
he collected so much money in his case lah.
after the markets malcolm drove us (in his nice new v8 holden!!)
down the the marina area,
coz we wanted to go have a beer at little creatures,
and also coz he had to move his car from where he was parked coz it was only a 2 hour parking limit area.
malcom works for sea rescue at freo,
so he knows all the people around the area. while he went to i dunno what, talk to someone or collect something or whatever,
we got bored in the car.
james always manages to make me look spastic in photos.
little creatures!
for those in singapore,
little creatures is a brewing company.
they brew their own beer etc there.
and you can get food as well.
the inside dining area.
the 2 boys.
wahaha.
see. james = bad photo-taking skill!!!!!!!!
what the hell was i doing??
we're so cute. sings "as we strolllllllll, alonggggggg toooogetherrrrrrr... holding hands, walking all along... shoo bee dooo!" i want this for my wedding song.
*poke poke!*
josh's new shoes that we got on uh... i THINK it was friday.
actually yeah it was friday.
and my new havis!! so cute lah got blingbling.
us . heart.
after freo josh and i went to inaloo to watch sex drive with jeb.
i heard the movie was damn funny etc etc,
but it wasnt that great.
maybe thats the problem with expectations. oh well.
and then after the movie,
josh and i headed to mark's aunty's place, for games night.
apparently his aunty and uncle-in-law are board game crazy,
and try to hold games nights as often as they can.
anyway tonight we played power grid (or somethin like that lah i cant rem the name).
well THEY played.
im too stupid for strategy games,
and i have no patience to use my brain so i will anyhow buy/throw/put things, or anyhow run/climb/shoot around.
anwyay the game is like you have to build power plants and houses and raw materials to power the power plants to fuel the houses.
the person with the most houses wins or whatever lah.
i think he felt damn sorry for me coz i was sitting there doing nothing.
so when it was like one of josh's turns,
and he had to decide between building a house in new york or phili (i think),
he turned to me and went: "where would you like to go, darling?"
just came back from clubbing with my long-time-no-see-used-to-be-super-clubber-buddy, miss nicole wong.
im pretty damn f-ing sleepy coz i didnt get to sleep last night coz my stomach and head were hurting like crazy from all the alcohol i had after dinner which i also have yet to blog about.
and so im goin to leave blogging about tonight's clubbing till tomorrow. coz i have a bit to say.
pics from the comm lab bbq at nic's place. you know how im always ranting about mr hot super? well now you all get to see him :p
its been a long wait, hasnt it.
ruby, nic's dog.
nic cooking his risolles.
damn bluddy thick lah.
shane and nic's girlf (sigh), shane and clare.
they fuckin drank so much lah.
this is like after clearing the table once or twice of all the empty beer bottles.
if i wasnt all hungover from last night's (now that i type last night, it seems last night was so much further away) beez neez,
i would drunk more today.
ended up drinking the sprite i brought there.
until nic corrupted my "clean" streak by puttin beez neez in my sprite!!! and then later pouring me pure beez neez........
us.
i like this photo.
cept for some reason, ruby's eyes are blue!!!???
for some reason we all looked very happy.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
(controls self).
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
how is it possible i ended up having a photo like this?!!
*happy sigheee*
clearly it is not possible for both of us to look nice in the same photo.
oh well.
okayy. time to get ready to go and sleep now.
have a long day ahead.
prolly have to get up at 9ish to go shopping.
city beach is having an opening sale for the new store at harbour town and we want to go take a look.
wheee. i havent had this much to drink in quite a while. since i left singapore last actually. beer on empty stomach, then dinner, then beer, then 2 white russians...
will blog about the night proper tomorrow when i get photos off james. although im sure there arent that many photos.
so anyhow. just a few things to update on i guess..
first of all, this is how half of my room looks like now. with all the "new" furniture i got =)
went shopping yesterday. got 2 pairs of shorts for $40!!! lucky i didnt buy them like a week ago or something, coz they were $35 a pair before this sale.
so anyway, everyone once so often,
raE does free fashion consulting for the male species.
i am thinking i should start charging for my services,
coz when they are not busy being stubborn and dissing everything i pick out for them to try,
and actually PUT the things on and have a look before deciding the things are ugly/not their style/too old/too young/too emo...
they actually end up looking pretty damn good,
and really liking whatever has been picked out for them.
i dressed a boy again yesterday.
im so good at my "job" i actually had to walk away when he came outta the changing room to show cynthia and i what he looked like in the shirt i picked out,
to close my jaw and not embarrass myself.
but being me,
and therefore having things never usually go my way,
the shirt (surprise surprise) had a stain on it and so we didnt end up buying it -_-
he did however, get this other shirt which was the second one i picked out,
and got compliments today from people!!!
something that makes me really happy =)
that other people notice my works of art =P
he also got this fragrance i picked out.
which actually smells pretty damn good.
i had it on my hand and couldnt stop sniffing at it while i was driving.
going to hot supervisor's house tmr for a bbq.
got him this card,
and a 3-in-1 laser pointer/pen/keychain
to say thank you. its wrapped so i cant put up a photo.
not that anyone else besides me gives a shit anyway.
so cute lah the card!!! and so appropriate. ahahahaha.
went to dinner at this italian cafe/restaurant.
was pretty damn good actually.
was too damn hungry to remember to take photos of the actual pasta that we ordered,
but uh...
picture of bread!!!
the what seemed to be the manager of the place,
we could swear was either high on something,
or had ADD man.
he was soooo damn hyper,
like dancing around the place, singing, and like (can u believe it) banging his fists on the counter and throwing the credit card machine when it was taking too long to dial through!
all in a joking manner, of course.
we were pretty damn amused.
when we were waitin to be seated, there was this couple behind us waiting as well.
and then when we got up to pay, they were waitin to pay as well.
and that guy went "why do you all have to always come together?!" lol. so funny lah.
and then he made us wait to pay coz he was busy with taking orders and running around in a frenzy, so we ended up chatting to the couple.
its things like these that make me enjoy living here.
was a pretty good dining experience.
anywayy im tired. and i dont think the alcohol tonight is helping that.
so ima go do something that requires less movement of the fingers and brain power,
being humans, the things we do often have consequences. whether good or bad, any given course of action is typically associated with one or more outcomes.
it could be a word said, a deed done, a decision made, a punch thrown, an appointment forgotten, a flight missed, a lie told, a fight prevented, a compliment given, an impulse stopped ...
and with each of the above, with experience we usually learn to predict and also come to expect, specific outcomes.
but each of these can occur in so many situations, with so many different people, who have different personalities, who've had different experiences, who want different things, who want to go different places, and to whom different things matter.
how then, are we ever able to know how a certain something on our part, impacts on the rest of the world that we come into contact with?
i suppose the truth is that you never know until it happens.
if you tell a lie and they find out, how do you know if they will find it in their hearts to forgive you, or if they will turn their back and walk away forever?
if you attempt stop a fight, what are the chances people are prevented from getting hurt? or how likely is it that you end up being the one to get knocked out?
if you make a choice that goes against everything you know to be right, is it possible that you gain for yourself a whole new life you never knew you could be so lucky to have, or will you live to regret it for the rest of the only life you've ever known of?
it seems that recently my life has been filled with decisions to be made.
decisions that are no longer trivial. decisions that only yesterday seemed so far away. decisions that i thought i wouldnt have to make this soon. decisions that i dont want to make.
because i am scared.
because i dont know what the consequences of the things that i say, or do, or sign, or choose, or dont say, or dont do, or dont sign, or dont choose, will be.
i have come to learn that what they say is true. that the older you grow, the more responsibility is placed on your shoulders. placed not just by the people who come to expect more from you as you age, but also by yourself.
as you age, you realize that the things you do affect not only the way things go for you, but that they also impact on the lives of those around you, in both big ways and small. and then when you realize that, the degree of accountability that suddenly weighs on your shoulders sort of comes as a shock.
i cannot deny that i wish, more often than not, that the things i do or say dont affect the people that i hold closest to my heart.
because then i would do the things i wanted to do, freely and without guilt.
so often we do or dont do the things we yearn to do, only because we know or we think that those things would prove detrimental to someone else's emotional/mental/physical quality of life.
just think, if today, whatever you did would not matter tomorrow, what would you do?
i know a million things that i would do if they did not have consequences in the days to come. where no one would get hurt, angry, upset because of me. and where a decision i make would not affect the rest of my future with regard to my own life.
i mentioned that with these things, you dont know until you do things or they happen.
and the problem with human life is that, by the time whatever happens, happens, its all too late to do anything about it.
again, i know a million things i would take back if i had the chance. things ive both said and done.
and then sometimes, im just me, and despite knowing the outcome way before i ever put myself in a situation, i cannot help but hang myself with my own tie and then dangle myself over the sea of impending tormet.
ive been writing this post since the 4th. it is the 17th today.
the decisions i have to make have not gotten any less. they have increased.
and as usual, i am more "lost than ever". and we all know by now that no matter what anyone says, the only one who can help you, is you.
and so i am on my own. to make these choices, and the live with not only myself, but also with the knowledge that people's lives have changed because of the decisions that i will come to make in the near future.
after 6 trips between my house, darren's house and josh's house picking up and dropping off things with mum CRV which had to have all its back seats folded down and the front passenger's one pushed all the way forward ...
my room (okok just the main table part lah ok not the whole room) went from looking like this ...
to looking like this.
i am f-ing shit happy coz ive been wanting a super ginormous table for a damn long time, and tonight i finally got one.
free summore *big grin*
SEE HOW MUCH MORE SPACE I HAVE NOW TO WORK OFF!!!
and finally, my ULaw and AFI posters which have been sitting on the floor in a corner of my room now have somewhere worthy to go! by worthy i mean somewhere where they're more likely to get noticed lah.
also got the lil shelf thingy thats under the table if u can see from the pic. decided to put all my favourite books and dvds there.
left the top shelf empty JUST IN CASE i get into masters and i need somewhere to put my textbooks next year *crosses fingers*.
free light thingy and clock/date thing as well. although i dunno how long the clock is gonna be left there coz it ticks pretty damn loudly and i am a damn light sleeper =P
today i was reminded again that men are amazing. one "help pleaseeee!" and i dont have to do anything coz there're 2 men carrying my whatevers that need to be carried for me. =)
either that or they can somehow (how they do it is beyond me) carry entire things on their own.
HOW AR? and HOW COME I CANT CARRY IT ON MY OWN?!?! grrr.
i have always wondered if it is because i CANNOT do things on my own, or its coz i have gotten so used to relying on men.
and if i had to do all this on my own, would i be able to?
i think can. but i dont want to find out :p
and now all i need is a laptop docking station.... somebody? :p
so. after me having worked till 1130 and josh having come up to entertain me for the last 2 hours of my shift, and after quite a bit of arguing with james about who should drive what car to who's house etc etc, we ended up in subi.
only to find that the pub we wanted to go to (subi hotel) was closing at 1 and they wouldnt let us in coz it was 1215. -_-
had to go to some pub/club thingy nearby called the llama bar instead. where i had to listen and (barely) dance to house music for like nearly 2 hours.
it always amazes how in perth, even if you're in super shit clothes (as i was tonight), you still manage to somehow get picked up.
by shitty guys of course.
and also how i ALWAYS, without fail, manage to get drink spillt on me by at least one person during the course of the night.
tonight though, the guy who spilt his drink on me coz someone bumped him, offered me his shirt to wipe myself off. except his spilt his drink like on the bottom of my pants near my shoes.
i took the liberty to rub my ankles off on his pants since he offered. very good. dried off very fast. *thumbs up*
jamesy and i.
josh and i.
josh is so not that much taller than me in real life.
and he is also sooo not as big-buffy-sized as he looks here.
dont know what happened with this photo.
so anyway we didnt know where to go after we got sick of listenin to crappy music.
ended up coming home.
so here i am.
have been meaning to complete this post that ive been typing,
raE: cant seem to fall asleep within 2 hours of hitting the pillow, and stay asleep for 2 hours after falling asleep.
get a life.
raE's random (maybe intelligent) thought/quote for the day
Every individual acts and suffers in accordance with his peculiar teleology, which has all the inevitability of fate, so long as he does not understand it.
